Club Dredd 2

Leigh's (a better poet & writer than I) reminded me, with her blog post, about the Kris Aquino poems I used to write & read at Club Dredd.

Kris Aquino was such an easy target because she's a sanctimonious hypocrite. And honestly, despite all these years, she's still a bad actress. I've seen better b-movie stars. There was a time that it was just too easy to write about her and even though the audience demanded for more (it always brought down the house), I just had to decline. It's when she got pregnant out of wedlock, months after denouncing premarital sex. How is easy is that?

The audience enjoyed my punk poetry. But that voice has long left me.

I basically wrote more than 80% of my poems the hour before I read them. I'm not sure if Leigh remembers but I'd walk in Club Dredd with my blank yellow pad and a ball pen and just start to write my material for the night. I would write my poems before & during readings of others. Writing poetry in Club Dredd just seemed to come naturally (either that or I had to pay for the cover charge).

Muttley

he's my favorite Hanna-Barbera cartoon

I just like the way he snickers.

TV Shows

I watched a lot of TV.
(It's part of being an introvert during my childhood.)

As I posted before, these are the TV genres I like to watch:
animé, cartoon, claymation, comedy, fantasy, puppetry, sci-fi, & supermarionation/supermacromation

I was part of the Saturday Morning TV generation.

I've grouped the shows I've watched into decades and they're in quasi-chronological order.
(If we have common interest, this should take you back down memory lane.)

(This has been the most arduous recapitulative HTLM exercise I've done, to date. I'm not even sure, if my list is complete. I've provided the official websites, whenever available. If I missed an official website, let know. If the TV show currently doesn't have an official website, I hope that I've provided the best alternative website. If you feel that there's a better alternative site to what I've chosen, let me know.)

The 2 worst TV creations:
infomercials & "Reality TV"

I don't like "Reality TV" because it isn't. If it's edited it isn't real. It's just low budget improvisation fake documentary TV.

designated drunk

whenever Brian & I carpool we are responsible enough to take turns on who's going to be the designated drunk

last night was his turn but it felt good being sober

today

Despite the fact that it's been raining since dawn, it just feels good. If only it were warm enough, I'd be walking in the rain right now.

Right now, it just feels like a 'drinking hot cocoa' weather wearing 'tattered clothes' day as I hypnotically watch the rain drops as time goes by.

this weekend

it was pregame free.

Hypochondriac Steve asked me if I was concerned about my liver. My reply was "I can always have it replaced; that's why we have organ donors and liver transplants."

(Kidding aside, don't get me wrong, I'm not an alcoholic. I don't drink at home. It's just a weekend social thing.)

wheat germ

I'm convinced it's food that came from Hell! And it's one of the foods they serve to torture souls!

My dad came back with at least 36 jars of that crap from one of his trips to the U.S.! He usually comes back with chocolate candies. But someone or something (perhaps the Devil himself) convinced him that wheat germ was the best thing you can feed your kids.

If you hate your kids, this is the food to feed them! It is one of the grossest things I've ever had! It was almost bland with the texture of quicksand. No matter how much milk or water or sugar we added, the thickness & flavor stayed the same; the only thing that happened is that it grew bigger!

My dad offered some to his oldest sister. My cousins were more fortunate. Because when their mom found out that they also hated it, she tried it and found it so disgusting that she got rid of all the wheat germ and told her kids that they didn't have to eat it.

My dad forced us to eat it. He had our evil sadistic nanny make sure that we finish 1 bowl for breakfast. This is when I didn't care, if I was going to Hell because it already felt like I was in it. I learned to throw away food (at a very young age) without caring about how many children were starving elsewhere. For all I cared, they could have ALL of my wheat germ.

The trick was learning to throw your food away without any evidence. So whenever our bitchy nanny stepped out, I went straight to the sink and dumped it in.

My youngest brother wasn't so lucky, he tried hiding his wheat germ in the cabinets (really now, talk about leaving evidence). Well my brother was very young and he was still learning how to sin properly. He got caught after they discovered several bowls in different cabinets. My father got so mad at him. And our bitch queen nanny tied him up to his chair for breakfast. I felt sorry for my youngest brother. It wasn't right to tie him up in his chair. Since we had a code of silence, whenever the nanny from Hell would leave, I would help my younger brother by dumping almost everything for him but I would leave him with just enough for 1 spoonful so that he can show our tyrannical nanny that he'd finished his bowl.

Rosh Hashana

I was told that today is the Jewish New Year 5762! Wow!

go-kart racing

last night was fun!

Brian, Keenan, Steve & I played 2 games of bowling. As predicted Steve was #1 & Brian was 2nd on both games. We never got to play perdigana. But it was still fun to play. Which could become an alternative weekend option. Though, I know we'll stick to our local bowling alleys.

Dale, Kleber & Kurt came but didn't play.

It was a different kind of bowling alley. The entrance was on a small 2 story building. But everything was underground, which was cool. It was so much bigger underground than what I expected. It was dark with loud but good music and light effects. The interior design was neon-colored theme.

The fun part of the night for me is when Steve & I went go-kart racing! It just felt good (after 2 pitchers of beer). (Unfortunately, my digital camera doesn't have any flash and it can't take pictures in the dark, so the 3 shots Brian took of us racing just came out black.)

I was wearing my rented bowling shoes while go-kart racing. I didn't realize that I still had them on till after we were leaving and we were outside in the parking lot.

Last time I went go-kart racing was with my oldest cousin on my Dad's side (he's 3 yrs. older). I went to visit my cousins in Arizona. My cousin decided to take me go-karting. I was still new at driving. And he took me to the bigger & faster go-karts (they looked and almost were the size of dune buggies).

I didn't know what I was in for. He said that there was nothing to worry about. Then he drove 1st and scared the shit out of me! He just kept laughing when he saw how scared I was. The race tract wasn't flat, it was on mounds and dips. And, I got butterflies on my stomach from the way he drove!

Then when it was my turn, I wasn't happy about feeling tricked about the whole thing. So, as soon as the light when green, I floored the gas pedal and never let it up and never stepped on the brakes till the end of the race! Because of the mounds and dips, there were times when we aired from the tract! He said that I impressed him. (I was hoping to scare him.)

I asked why my time was slower than his because I never stepped on the brakes. He explained that I lost time whenever we lost traction from the curves or from flying from the mounds.

The Rundown

I just saw it and it's definitely a fun movie! It's now a toss-up on my favorite fight scenes. The Rock vs. the little Brazilians was just one of the coolest fight scenes ever!

If there was any scene stealer, it had to be the lead fighter of the little Brazilians. He basically stole the scene from The Rock! That little guy had presence!

I think that this is definitely The Rock's best movie! No doubt, if he keeps having movies like this, he'll be the next Arnorld!

my quest for the best coconut rum

I thought Malibu was good till I tried Captain Moran's Parrot Bay. That's the rum Kleber & Kurt introduced me to when we pregamed. It taste so good with Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi!

I went to a couple of liquor stores and just found out about Bacardi Cóco (info not yet available in their slow site). I'm curious about it. Chances are, I will buy it for this weekend to see how it will taste compared to Captain Moran's Parrot Bay.

cola drinking contest

Sometime during college, my friends came over to hang-out. We had a lot of 2 liter sodas that almost equaled to 2 per person. So, someone came up with this bright idea of a contest to see who's the fastest soda drinker among us. Everyone grabbed a bottle and we all drank till we finished it. I didn't win.

That night, I couldn't sleep. I can't remember what I did to try to sleep. I thought it was just me. But everyone else had their story to share the next day. The funniest was when one of our friends decided to clean her house at 2am without regard to the rest of her family. She just vacuumed all night.

That was the last time we did that contest.

my 1st can of beer

College was the most fun I've had during my educational years.

I told myself that I wasn't going to drink until I was of the legal drinking age. However, during a Christmas party (less than a month before I turned 21), I succumbed to peer pressure.

I learned to play 'quarters'. Even though it was a lot of fun, that was the 1st & only time I've played it. So, I've basically forgotten how to play that game. All I know is that was the 1st can of beer that I finished (and then some, maybe a bit over 6 cans).

That's when I 1st experienced losing my motor-skills. My friends told me that if you slide your lips sideways and feel it tingling, then you know you've got a buzz. I went beyond that, I felt my toes tingling! I was so concerned about what alcohol might do to me but all it did was just make me smile and the more I drunk the bigger my smile got.

It was a fun Hawaiian themed party. I remember a pool and people being thrown into it. Then, for some odd reason, someone wanted to dry their shirt and we used the microwave and then the gas oven... And, the shirt got toasted!

The Brilliant Corners

one of my favorite bands before I turned 21. And, my favorite song from them at that time was "Jim's Room" because it had a refrain I related to:
"not yet even 21 and feeling very used"

They sorta sounded like The Smiths on Prozac (because they were happier).

TV control rules

Having siblings & cousins, TV control rules had to be made. It was funny how each family had similar rules with their own minor variances. With my siblings, whoever turns on the TV is in control and will remain in control unless you forget to say, "Save!" before leaving the room. With my other cousins, you had to say, "Save!" while touching the TV before leaving the room.

What started to happen after school was we'd all race to get home 1st just to be in control of the TV till bedtime. And during weekends, we all tried to be the 1st one up.

Those who weren't in control were like vultures waiting to run to the TV to touch it and say, "Save!" when the person who's in control forgets to "save". The 1st person to touch the TV and say, "Save!" takes control.

This was not good because the way we watched TV evolved from watching from a distance to watching while having a foot touching the TV (so as not needing to run). Looking back, I think it's just plain funny how we all had our foot touching the TV while watching it.

food rationing with siblings

When we were kids, my younger brother couldn't stand my voracious appetite. I'd eat as often as I want (without gaining weight! the joys of high-metabolism during childhood). He didn't like me finishing our favorite foods before he could eat them. So he decided to ration our food. Being the older brother, his rules didn't apply to me. I ate his share, nonetheless. He would get upset even after telling him that our parents would replenish them whenever they go shopping. He tried hiding his share but I'd always find his secret hiding places. Finally, the only thing that stopped me from eating his share was when he decided to lick them in front of me. Then I thought, "Okay. Yuck! Nevermind."

Underworld 2nd review

I'm usually content with watching a movie once (even if I thought it was good), this movie is one of those exceptions where I felt like I wanted to see it again and as soon as possible. I saw it again with Brian on the 23rd. I'm glad that I watched it again because I caught subtle clues on what the sequel might have.

Definitely, this is now my favorite vampire, werewolf, and 'vampire & werewolf' movie!

I'm glad that this movie wasn't cerebral in any manner and yet it didn't insult your intelligence either. It was almost non-stop action! The story telling was well integrated into the action scenes. Which is way better than being force fed with long philosophical babbles like the way Matrix: Reloaded did. With all the genres that this movie falls into, it should be fun and not cerebral and not insulting to your intelligence. So, this movie was it!

I didn't want to say much on my 1st review because I didn't want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't seen it yet.

There's a fight scene that topped my former favorite fight scene (which was in "The Lord Of The Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring" when Aragon slew the Uruk-Hai leader).

The plot: 'vampires vs. werewolves' is nothing new. Even a hybrid between both is nothing new. But, they way they kill each other with guns and special bullets, now that was new to me! Imagine immortals going around killing each other with guns. The concept is funny but the action scenes were awesome! The version of the origin of both vampires & werewolves was new to me but it has similarities to Cain & Abel.

I don't think I gave away much. But, if you've watched it or are going to watch it; let me know, how many hybrids do you think will be at the start of the sequel. I'm guessing 4. But, I think they might not be equal in their powers or strength.

Penn & Teller: Bullshit!

I just found out about this show. I wish I had Showtime. I'd have watched most of their episodes.

My Celebrity Sightings

I saw Robin Williams at LAX, when he was still playing "Mork"! He was standing, less than 4' away from me, on the curve, waiting for his ride. When he saw me look at him, he smiled back at me! I wanted to say "Nanoo! Nanoo!" before he got in his ride. But I was just too flabbergasted seeing my favorite TV star face-to-face!

I met Daniel Ash (when he went solo) in an airplane to LAX. I didn't know that he was such a jerk. I went up to say, "Hi!" and he got upset. I asked him, if he was Daniel Ash, and he said, "Yes! What do you want?!?" I said to him, "I like your music in Tones On Tail and Love And Rockets I just wanted to say, 'Hi!' And ask, if it's okay to take a picture." He said, "No!" His band saw what happened and they took pity on me. They said they'd convince him later to take a photo, after we land and get our baggage. They kept to their word but unfortunately, I ran out of film!

Robert Smith was my best contact with a celebrity! He was at Disneyland with his wife & kid(s). I don't know, if they were supposed to be incognito. I wasn't sure, if it was him and neither did the crowd of boys & girls who were already staring and whispering about him. He was fatter than I've ever known him to be. He was dressed in white (black was his normal attire). The only give-away was his hair. So, I decided to walk up to him. We were right in front of the Magic Shop. Nonchalantly, I said, "Hi Are you Robert Smith of the Cure?" And he said, "Yes." Staying indifferent, I said, "That's good. I want to thank you for your music." I shook his hand and walked away. His wife thought it was funny because I was just very casual about the whole manner and she started to laugh. Next thing I hear was the shrieking sounds of boys & girls screaming as they passed me to greet him. I knew I blew his cover; but at least I got to shake his hand. Because his bodyguards rushed him and his family straight into the shop & closed the doors before the crowd got to him.

I saw Penn of Penn & Teller on a sidewalk of the of The New York Public Library in front of the Lions. He was talking to someone and I was just going to cross the street.

Fall started today

6:45am, according to the local weather channel

7-Eleven

someone told me that they have better coffee than Dunkin Donuts. So I decided to try it this morning with my local store

mmmkay it's a good alternative. I now have more coffee options. I got the Big Brew size of French Vanilla.

smoking

I can recall doing it only 4 times.
1st time when I was under 10 yrs. old (before I had my 1st juvenile asthma attack) I took 2 puffs and fell coughing.
2nd time was during college with my closest friend after we had a pointless & frustrating argument (like a batrachomyomachy) with a couple of the girls in the group. He doesn't smoke either but that night we just both looked at each other (even though he asked 1st) we both apparently felt like smoking. I took 2 puffs and kept on coughing and had a flashback on my 1st time. (I lost touch of my college friend.)
3rd over 6 yrs. ago with a friend just because I was curious. I took more than 2 puffs but didn't finish the stick. It just reaffirmed that it wasn't for me.
4th was last year when Stella told me her special cigarettes won't make me cough. She didn't want me to smoke but I insisted to try it. I think I finished that stick.

reverie 5

it felt like slipstreaming through a collage of dreams. I can't remember much of it. But it was enough to wake me up in the middle of the night.

eye patch

I wore one around 3rd-4th grade. Something grew out of my left eye. I think that was my 1st operation. My eyes never looked symmetrical after that operation. Actually, there was a visibly significant difference in size & shape of my eyes for several years after that operation.

The only good thing after that operation was my mom bought me all the toys I wanted in the hospital's toy shop. And, I was just so disappointed with their inventory. I should've negotiated for shopping at a real toy store. Ah, but a bazooka that fired ping-pong balls, a battery powered robot (that walked & spun & had a laser gun come out of it's chest and fired with light & sound effects) and 5 Matchboxes weren't so bad.

Back then, Heaven to me was better than any toy store! Heaven had every toy I wanted and they were all free! God had to be better than Santa Claus (because he only came once a year).

braces

I had them back in grade school.

The fun part was going to the orthodontist who looked like a grandma who had permanent menopause. She was the meanest person I knew at that time. After each visit and having new wires installed, I couldn't eat anything solid for 4 days. Even chewing mashed potatoes felt like chewing rocks.

Once, she didn't twist the ends, so the wire stabbed the inside of my right cheek. Ah the gore... blood came out of my mouth like a horror movie special effect. I had to be rushed back to her because the wire got stuck inside my cheek. I still have the scar inside to prove it.

"Who's Looking Out For You?"

that's Bill O'Reilly's new book which I found out about from the front cover of Parade.

Seems interesting, almost rocket science. Now, I have to check, if 1+1 still equals 2.

I'm somehow reminded about "How To Win Friends And Influence People" by Dale Carnegie. A book my father gave me (while I was in junior high) because we couldn't get along (till around 7 yrs. ago). I never read the book; and it's seems, neither has he; because Part 4 was "How to Change People Without Giving Offense or Arousing Resentment" and that's not what it felt like when he gave me that book.

Taboo

I just found out about it. This is the 1st time I've ever been curious about watching a musical. I have to find out who'd be interested in watching this with me.

I mentioned this to Steve and he tells me that he already has tickets and he's going on 11-1-3. He's such a bitch!

cott'n pick'n minute

the 1st time I heard that expression from my junior high English teacher. When she said it to me, I thought, "Wow. A farm expression." I can't remember what my reaction was when she said it to me. But, I ended-up in the "English For Foreign Students" class, right after she said that expression. Which was cool because there were only 4 of us in the class. And, the teacher for that class was inept. As a matter of fact, I don't recall anything about the teacher for that class. I remember a Russian girl, someone from Asia, and someone who 1st offered me drugs (mind you, never done any & never will; music is my drug alternative) {he was no foreigner but the drugs must've made sound like it}. All I did in that class was read comic books. How is easy is that?

And, you know what's also "inconceivable"? I was a library assistant {who was taking "English For Foreign Students" class (ha-ha-ha)}. Someone told me that it was the easiest class to take (next to home economics) but they only take 2 per semester. I was lucky enough to be selected. And, I used my time there to do homework and read all the mythology & monster books that interested me. So, I became well versed in Greek/Roman & Norse (and some Egyptian) mythologies.

reverie 4

I wasn't in it, nobody I knew was in it... It was about a sword that could cut anything. Nothing could stop the sword. I don't know who was wielding it, but he just kept cutting everything in his sight. It felt like watching a video game. But, I wasn't watching or playing anything to do with swords. So, I don't know what could've triggered that dream.

egg biology according to my dad

back in junior high, my dad told me that the egg yolk is the chicken and the egg white is the food and that's why chicks are born yellow

when I tried to explain to him otherwise, he said I was wrong

then I said, "you better tell my science teacher that he's wrong because I'd hate for him to keep teaching wrong things to others"

Mars

have you had the chance to look at it? The Mars hoopla's gotten me curious.

I'm thinking about going to The Custer Institute Observatory soon, just to take a look at Mars.

perdigana bowling

"perdigana" is a colloquial Spanish hybrid word from "perder" (to lose) & "gana" (desire), the loose translation is "desire to lose"

The object of the game for "perdigana bowling" is to score the lowest. However, gutter balls are considered equal to a strike. It actually is a little harder to play than regular bowling.

The fun part to playing "perdigana bowling" is when you add the drinking rules. You have to drink, whenever you get a gutter ball, a strike or a spare. Basically, you wouldn't want to miss a pin nor would you want to hit them all.

The 1st and only time I've played this was over 10 yrs. ago and I got so drunk. But, it was probably the most fun bowling I've ever played.

This weekend, I will hopefully be playing perdigana bowling with Brian, Kleber, Kurt & Steve {who apparently won a bowling scholarship (I've never heard of such scholarship)} at Strike (which I've been wanting to go to for over a year now).

And, we're going to try the largest underground go-kart racing. I haven't gone go-kart racing in the longest time. So, this is something else to look forward to.

Venus Hum

I like their song, "Hummingbirds" you can listen to or watch it now.

Tel Basta

Once Upon A Time In Mexico

I think that Johnny Depp is definitely the best actor of his age range!

I'm not surprised that he had to have the strange character in this movie.

I liked Desperado better but this is just different. I think it's because of Johnny Depp's character. I just felt strange after watching the movie.

This is the 3rd installment of "El Mariachi" which I haven't seen but I'm now curious to watch it.

Underworld

is the BEST action, adventure, fantasy, & sci-fi movie for this year!!! I loved it! I say, watch it, if you're into these genres!

The website's also cool!

I'm most likely going to watch it again and buy the DVD as soon as it's released.

I liked it more than both The Hulk & The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen (which was, for this year, my favorite of these genres)

It was the combined fun of The Matrix (without the philosophical blah-blah-blah of Reloaded) & Blade 2 (because the 1st Blade wasn't as good as the 2nd).

Ultravox

I feel that their music is something best heard as loud as possible in the great outdoors. And, their song, "Reap The Wild Wind" from their "Quartet" album, seems appropriate for yesterday & today.

Other songs I like from them:
"Vienna" is my favorite from them (I think it's the best song with a piano); "White China" is my 2nd favorite; "Love's Great Adventure" is my 3rd favorite; "The Voice"; "The Thin Wall"; "Hymn"; "One Small Day"; "Dancing With Tears In My Eyes"; "When The Time Comes"

21.5%

that's my body fat & I'm 172.2 lbs.
which mean's I've got 37.023 lbs. of fat
my fat-free weight is 135.177 lbs.
all I want is to get down to 165 lbs.
and, it aint easy.

for my age, I'm ideally supposed to be between 8%-20%

This is the 1st body fat testing I've done in over a decade. And, they used electricity (kinda neat because it's more high-tech than the pinchers that were used when I last took the test) to determine this. You stand on this scale with your bare feet and electricity goes through you and it determines how long it takes from going from one foot to the other.

They say, it's best to take the test before having breakfast (or with an empty digestive tract) and without taking any fluids. So, my results (given that it was taken in the late evening) might be off by 3%.

Sony Ericsson T610

I'm thinking about getting it. It's just to make me have more fun with my phlog.

Buy it for me and I'll be nice to you until the warranty expires.

My T28 World is starting to get flakey with me.

rain dancing

okay, either I'm horrible at it or the gods need to take geography! Hurricane Isabel is supposed to be in the West Coast, specifically on the venue of KROQ's Inland Invasion III: Flashback To The Future! I don't want Jeff to have a good time!

Coldcut

listening to their song, "Autumn Leaves (Irresistible Force Mix Trip 2)" seems appropriate, right now.

listening to the trees

man dictates
that autumn starts
when Daylight Saving Time ends
and that is
on the last Sunday
of October

but the trees
are whispering otherwise
and they're saying
my wishful thinking
for a St. Martin's summer
or even just
an Indian summer
shall not be

I see it
on the discolored
jagged edges
of their premature
fallen leaves

they will be red soon
when their whispers
turn into screams

I empathize
their winter sentiments.

Visions Of You

by Jah Wobble featuring Sinead O'Connor is my favorite song by him & probably the most hauntingly beautiful song Sinead's guest sang in.

Roller Coasters!

This was one of our topics, when I spoke to Jeff, last Saturday (aside from our traditional music topic).

We both spoke about how we saw a couple of Roller Coaster episodes on the Discover Channel. And, he reminded me that tallest & fastest is "Top Thrill Dragster" {I'm already getting butterflies, just thinking of it! (I'm steadfast becoming more chickenshit, the more I think about it!) This will have to be my 1st ride, when I go there; or, I won't ride it at all.} in Cedar Point. Another roller coaster that's there and is worth noting is "Millennium Force". Without a doubt, I will go there soon! Oh yes, I WILL! You can view the park with their live webcams! Wow! 17 roller coasters in 1 park! (JT said, he's been at this park 3x! But that was 3 yrs. ago.)

Another place that I want to go to is Kennywood. And, since it's within driving distance, I also plan on going there soon! The 2 roller coasters I'm interested in there are Phantom's Revenge & The Exterminator (which brags to be one of the best in the dark roller coasters).

Here's an outdated poll from Discover.com that you can use, to watch some roller coasters.

an e-mail I sent 9-12-2K

"To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a little better; whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is the meaning of success."

resignation poem

{Jason just reminded me, of the resignation poem (more like a haiku) I wrote to an ad agency I worked for.}

This is to inform you
that I'm going to resign.

Thank you,
for a wonderful time.

I had to resign because it's one of those overworked but underpaid jobs. Don't get me wrong, I liked the job. But the stress was way too much. I was new but they handed me the 3rd largest account in the company. It was a tri-media with events account.

I basically had a crash course in advertising. I did print {I even had to do the editing & copyrighting for it because the art department were lazy fucks! I wasn't supposed to do it, but nobody wanted to! (Sorry for the rant but try doing full centerfold ads on your own after finding out nobody wants to do it and you have to learn how to do it on the night of the printing deadline and you have over 50 names to add using a DOS based non-GUI word processor and our data transfer speed depended on how fast our sneakernet was! Crap, I'm getting angry again, just thinking of it!)}, radio (the easiest of the 3), & TV ads (fun behind the scene experiences). We were able to close a series of 3 TV ads (for the 1st time) for the promo. I created that year's promo scheme. And, I got to go behind the scenes during the raffle drawings on TV. We also had an annual kite flying contest event (which was cool).

I had no clue why they gave me the 3rd largest account. Way after I resigned, Sharon told me, it's because I scored the highest in their I.Q. test. I still think it's funny; because, more than half of the time, I was just guessing my way through that test. Maybe my pencil had the mystical properties of a planchette & was guided with Ouija magic.

I was losing weight from that job. And, it became my 2nd home. If I went to home, it was only to shower & freshen-up.

Even though she wasn't too friendly with me at that time; I admired Sharon because her workload was at least 5x more than mine! I had 3 accounts (the other 2 were just print media), she had at least 5 accounts!

Our boss, Anna, was really cool. And she looked like Betty Boop.

The building we worked in had British accent talking elevators. I hoped that it would eventually teach people how to say, "16th Floor", properly.

The only real good thing that came from that work experience is my friendship with Sharon & Jason.

pregaming

It's something I think I've done during college but I don't think it had a name then... It's when you drink before going to a bar.

I just started this w/ Brian on Friday night, outside the parking lot of a bar, because we knew we were late for the open bar.

Brian brought the Bacardi & I brought my Diet Wild Cherry Pepsi. Brian mixed it too strong. So, I got a real good buzz at the parking lot.

If alcohol makes you lose your inhibition, I guess mine is smiling. Because the more buzzed I get, the bigger my smile.

I told Kleber & Kurt about it. And, I pregamed with both of them on Saturday in Kurt's gigantic SUV. They brought Captain Moran's Parrot Bay and that tasted way a lot better than Bacardi! I spilt Kleber's drink & got my gray jeans wet & a little on Kurt's SUV (sorry Kurt). JT joined us briefly. We had so much fun outside before getting in the bar. And, I think we had more fun, whenever we went outside for fresh air and to chat with others. I met some funny people that made me laugh so hard. It was a fun night!

{Kurt wants me to mention about the Oompa-Loompas but there's no real discreet way of mentioning them without being ostracized from the Chocolate Factory. Even knowing how to do the Oompa-Loompa dance might not get me back in. (Kurt's piña coladas might not even be worth the ostracism.)}

Based on both nights, I think I might just pregame on the parking lots before entering the bars. Its fun when you're with good company. And, it's cheap, when you're in a shoestring budget.

Kurt said he's going to be making some piña coladas this weekend. Yum! I haven't had those in the longest time.

"Millennium Epilogue" an e-mail I sent on 12-28-1999

(someone reminded me about this e-mail and suggested that it was worth posting...)

Happy New Millennium!!!

It's kinda neat to think that the next time ANYONE could ever say that again would be on 3000 A.D. (provided that the current calendar is still applicable then).

I think that I'd be lucky enough to live till 2050 A.D.
I wonder what life would be like then?

20 yrs. ago, I had wondered what the world would be like during the New Millennium (Y2K)... I wondered what life in general would be like and what my life would be like... I don't have to wonder anymore. I am grateful that I am still alive to know what life is like now.

Life isn't exactly the "Star Trek" that I'd like it to be... Though, even back then, I knew that it wasn't realistically possible for it to ever be that way, in my lifetime... Well, the Internet will suffice.

Back in my "salad days", I've had my share of my own quasi-megalomania... I was a Utopian. Now, I'd like to think that I'm a Realist.

Here are some of my favorite quotes:

"Remember, no matter where you go, there you are."
-Buckaroo Banzai

"Nobody can be so amusingly arrogant as a young man who has just discovered an old idea and thinks it is his own."
-Sydney J. Harris

"I prefer tongue-tied knowledge to ignorant loquacity."
-Cicero

"My mother groan'd, my father wept,
Into the dangerous world I leapt."
-William Blake

"If you're naturally kind, you attract a lot of people you don't like."
-William Feather

"I like long walks, especially when they are taken by people who annoy me."
-Fred Allen

"The true pleasure of life is to live with your inferiors."
-W. M. Thackeray

"Impartial: Unable to perceive any promise of a personal advantage from espousing either side of a controversy."
-Ambrose Bierce

"Egotist: A person of low taste, more interested in himself than me."
-Ambrose Bierce

"The only thing that can stop hair falling is the floor."
-Will Rogers

"It is better to have loafed and lost than never to have loafed at all."

just wanted share them here in my blog... these are a few of the ones I've kept digitally... I have some more but they're stored in a box somewhere...

swirl (3-2-97)

I feel like a turtle flipped to it's back...
I can see everything around me
but it's all upside-down
and a sense of vertigo slips in
I can't go anywhere cause I'm stuck
I can't get my feet on the ground...
and, all the struggle I do
to get back on my feet
is in vain
because it's just stressing me
and making me dizzy...
so, all I can do is look at the world
in an upside-down view
and hope that someone will turn me over.

I close my eyes to see myself...

swirl 3 (12-11-97)

everyone has
an answer
to something

and
I just wish
I didn't know
and so
I can't and wouldn't
say anything
and thoughts
wouldn't bother me

thoughts
that mix
my emotions
all swirled

instead
I try to drown
my thoughts
my opinions,
reasons,
explanations,
and solutions

I'd like
for silence
in my mind...
peace and quite

at times
hard to ignore
and so
I try to find
distractions
or create my own

there are times
when my thoughts
are too loud to contain
within my head
and they want to be heard

but I'd rather
not be involved

Say Nothing (12-7-94)

We don't know each other,
but that doesn't matter.

Say nothing.
We just met tonight.

You don't know me.
Say nothing.
Look at me.
Say nothing.
Touch me.
Say nothing.
Hold me.
Say nothing.
Hug me.
Say nothing.

Your words will mean nothing to me.
For, my love for you will last
for this one night.
My love for you might last
till dawn.

And all that will ever matter is the
feeling of your warm embrace.

No words.
For your touch will numb my pain
for just this night.

You don't know me.
Say nothing.
Look at me.
Say nothing.
Touch me.
Say nothing.
Hold me.
Say nothing.
Hug me.
Say nothing.

You don't need to know my pain.
Say nothing.

You don't know me.
Say nothing.

The Teardrop Collector (12-7-94)

I am the teardrop collector.
I collect rare teardrops.

Tears of pleasure.
Tears from those who cry
before, during,
and after sex.

Tears of happiness.
Tears from mothers during
the pain of birth.
Tears from fathers
at the first sight
of their newborn.

Tears of shame.
Tears from a lifelong burden
that you try to hide.

Tears of guilt.
Tears from sins that scar yours
and other souls.

Tears of regret.
Tears from times you wish
you could redo a certain
past.

Tears of hopelessness.
Tears from know that there are
things beyond your control.

Tears of sadness.
Tears from those who cry
silently and alone.

I am the teardrop collector.
The world spins & I'm a part of it.

Sharing thoughts, borrowing ideas.
Inspiration.

Tears come in many flavors.
I sort them to savor.
The rare ones tastes the best.

In fragile vials I keep them.
Precious they all are.

Each flavor has a history.
When I taste a tear,
I learn the reason of it.

When you shed a tear for me,
you share your thoughts to me.

I am the teardrop collector.
I collect rare teardrops.

Hooverphonic

I like their songs: "Dictionary" from their "Blue Wonder Power Milk" album; "Inhaler" from their "A Stereophonic Sound Spectacular" album; "L'Odeur Animale" from their "The Magnificent Tree" album.

Morcheeba

the song I like from them is "Blindfold" from their "Big Calm" album.

and on

I don't know, how long I'll maintain this blog. The only definite reason for this to stop is when my consciousness has an arrested development. If I skip a day or more, it's probably because my thoughts are constipated. But today, it feels like diarrhea.

reverie 3

I dreamt this last Wednesday. As far as I can remember, this could be my 1st Sci-Fi dream. I dreamt of my family, friends & myself being androids. We were fighting with telepathic cyborgs who were trying to take control of everyone. But, since we were androids, we were immune to their telepathic powers. I woke-up from this dream because during a fight, I thrust my right hand through a cyborg's abdomen; but, unfortunately, in reality, my hand hit my wall and that hurt. And, I woke-up saying, "Ouw!"

I tried to thinking about what caused this dream. The only thing I did was watch "Chicago" (which was actually a good musical) with Brian & Jim. Maybe it's because I didn't get to watch the season premier of "Enterprise" that night.

Sneaker Pimps

my favorite song by them is "Loretta Young Silks" from their "Bloodsport" album.

why I hate Jeff

I called him up today, to greet him Happy Birthday, in advance. And he tells me that he's going to KROQ's Inland Invasion 3: Flashback To The Future!!!

If I knew about this a month ago, I would've made plans to have gone!

Jeff is a B! I! T! C! H! I hate him!!! Damn him!!!

I shall do some rain dancing and hope for a very wet day on that venue!

1st 'current' movie review

thirteen was the heaviest movie I've ever watched, to date. It's the best movie I've seen Holly Hunter in. And, that new kid actress, Evan Rachel Wood, is a rising star.

I've seen a few of reviews about the movie, prior to watching it. I probably wouldn't have watched it on my own, since I avoid drama (in all it's forms) like a plague. But, Brian was curious and so was I.

Synopsis: It's about a white trash 13 yrs. old girl.

I felt like I got pulled into the drama, like drowning into a whirlpool. The movie felt very indie. The film quality looked low budget; but it worked well for the movie. There was a certain raw power about it that you could feel. It felt like nothing was held back. Caution: This is not a feel good movie. You're not walking out with a smile.

Brian & I agreed that middle school (a.k.a. junior high) was our worst childhood years because it's when kids are at their peak of cruelty. Brian said his middle school wasn't as bad as the one depicted in the movie. Being from the L.A. County area, mine was like the movie.

dumbfound

hhhmmm... let's break it down to 2 words... 'dumb' + 'found'

Everybody! Sing with me this popular nursery song...
"If you're stupid and you know it, clap your hands!" (clap 2x & repeat 2x)
"If you're stupid and you know it..." (repeat 2x)
"If you're stupid and you know it, clap your hands!" (clap 2x)

Great Adventure

I went with my friend, Brian.
Sometimes, trying to keep up with him can be a 'predestination' attempt.
(that was a multi-layered pun, go figure)

I picked him up right before 9am.
I drove 1st shift, all the way to the 1st NJ rest stop. The drive was great! I've never been to those highways. It was a good scenic drive. And, I played music that Brian's never heard before.

Brian drove from the rest stop to Great Adventure. He liked driving the truck. He now wants to get a SUV because he liked being higher than others and the intimidation larger autos have to those driving smaller cars. We arrived a little after 11am.

Brian was my tour guide. We didn't follow any plan. Which actually worked out well.
The day basically went like this...
Brian: "Do want to ride this?"
Me: "Okay."

And, when the line was long & slow...
Brian: "Do you want to wait in this line?"
Me: "Might as well, we're here."

(Note: I've overcome my fear of roller coasters during high school; but, I still have a slight case of acrophobia. There are times, when I stargaze, during a clear evening night, I get a little nauseous because I feel that I might fall into the stars.)

Here's the order of what we rode:
1st was Batman, because it was the 1st thing we saw and Brian said that he never rode it because the last time he was in Great Adventure (6 yrs. ago), they shut down the ride while he was in line for it. The wait in line wasn't so bad, but the ride wasn't so great.
2nd was Movietown Water Effect and it's only purpose is to get you soaking wet.
3rd ride was Batman & Robin: The Chiller the wait in this line was close to 1 hr. & 30 min.! Because the Batman part of the ride was down & they were only using 1 coaster for Robin. We were still wet from the previous ride when we started in line and finally dried-up by the time we rode it. Brian would've spent the extra $20 on the Fast Lane Q-bot just so that he wouldn't have to wait in line. The wait was almost worth it because the ride was good and the head operator was funny even though she was serious about her job {she saw everything from her Hlidhskjalf (I actually just updated that word in Wikipedia.)}.
(Brian tried to teach me how to whistle. My whistle sounds like it has laryngitis. It's something, I forgot to add to my list of musical talents.)
4th was Nitro! I was told that, if you want to get rid of the butterflies in your stomach while riding a roller coaster, you need to scream. And, scream I did! It worked to degree because I unfortunately had more butterflies than I could scream out. I have never felt a drop like that roller coaster! I didn't bother to purchase our 1st photo on that ride because of the expression of fear on my face. The only thing that looked good were my biceps being fully flexed because I gripped on the seat guard as hard as I could as I screamed going down! I definitely was not ready for that ride!
5th was Skull Mountain. Despite being advised not to, Brian still wanted to ride this because all the indoor roller coasters he's rode have been good (our favorite is the "Rock 'n' Roller Coaster® Starring Aerosmith"). That changed after we rode this. I think they built a nice facade building and kept the interior in total darkness just to hide this bad ride. (Good marketing spin techniques.)
6th was Medusa because someone, after riding Nitro, recommended it and said it was a "smooth" ride. Funny thing is, everyone we talked to that rode Medusa said the same thing. It sounded like they were describing an alcoholic beverage. Anyhow, it wasn't exactly "smooth" because my head & ears hit the overhead seat guard a couple of times. This was the 1st photo I purchased. I then purchased all other photos on rides that took them. They may be a bit costly (almost the same price of a Long Island Iced Tea) but they're worth it.
7th was Saw Mill Log Flume which is your typical log ride but at the end of the ride are 3 water guns which people can pay to spray the passengers before they end their ride. We were dry until some kids with quarters wanted to get us wet.
We then attended an "all you can eat buffet" at the Garden of Eatin'. The food was like eating 7/11's hotdogs & hamburgers.
8th was Houdini's Great Escape.
9th was Superman Ultimate Flight. We got to see the sunset, waiting for this ride.
10th was The Great American Scream Machine.
11th was Nitro again! This time, I was ready to redeem myself and look better for the picture.

We left the park around 9pm.

The weather for the entire day was great! It was sunny, yet cool. And during the evening, it was mild enough to still wear a tank top without feeling cold.

It was the most fun that I've ever had in NJ! And, the most fun I've had this year! And perhaps, the most fun I've had, since I moved here in Long Island!

Brian drove to Manhattan and because of an unusual heavy traffic, we got there around 11:30pm. He needs to say the prayer for patience (just like the bumper sticker).

(Passing the jackfruit scented landfill in Staten Island was disturbing to the olfactory.)

We went to a bar & a dinner. Stayed till almost 4am.

I drove back. Brian played his harmonica. Then, I played Chicane's 2nd album (a Christmas gift from my friend, Jeff) "Behind The Sun" (chillout music) which helped him sleep.

I got home by 5am! I had to work at 9am. I'm still recuperating from yesterday. I feel like a zombie (without the desire to eat living brains).
Brian didn't have to work till 2pm. (the bastard!)

It's good to have a friend, who can be goofier than you. You'll see what I mean, when you view the photos that were taken in some of the rides, on my phlog.

Everyone should have a friend like Brian. He can make you relive the salad days you've never had. He has shown me how to have the life of Riley. (Which could be why people think I'm over a decade younger than I really am.)
