force majeure
I've always known it as "act(s) of God"; but someone with adamant conviction told me that it's "when you're 'majorly being forced' to do something that you don't want to do" (isn't that "duress"?). And so I thought, "Wow! ALL dictionaries are wrong!" It's always good to know someone who's omniscient & infallible.
